From One Chapter to the Next: My Story Behind Petit Gourmet

Updated: 5 days ago

Hi, I’m Géraldine. My family and I relocated to Spain from France in 2017. Coming from a catering background, I had always dreamed of opening my own café - and two years later, that dream came true on the beachfront of Fuengirola when Café Nomad was born.

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that just ten days after opening, the world would be hit by a global pandemic. Those early days were filled with uncertainty, but with hard work, heart, loyal employees, and the incredible support of our local community, Café Nomad became something truly special - a place built on resilience, care, and connection.

In 2024, life took an unexpected turn, and we made the very difficult decision to sell the café and relocate to England. Saying goodbye to our customers, many of whom had become dear friends, and to an amazing team I considered family, was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.

But as life often does, it surprised us once again. During a summer holiday back in Fuengirola in 2025, we stumbled upon a charming little café for sale in Los Boliches. Something about it just felt right ... the space, the timing, the spark. With encouragement from some of my former team members (who were also ready for a new adventure), I made an impulsive decision to put in an offer. Days later, Petit Gourmet was ours.

Now begins a new chapter - one filled with creativity, care, and community. Over the next few months, we’ll be giving the café a refreshed look and shaping a menu full of colourful, homemade dishes that bring joy to every bite. It’s going to be a journey, and we’ll be learning and growing as we go - so thank you in advance for being part of it!

I’m beyond excited to be working alongside some of my wonderful former staff again and to welcome familiar faces (and new ones!) to Petit Gourmet. My hope is to create a cosy, welcoming space where every detail matters, every dish is made with love, and every visit leaves you smiling.

Lots of exciting things are on the way - I can’t wait to share them with you soon.

With love,

Géraldine
